芝加哥白襪兜售強投塞爾（Chris Sale），如果芝加哥小熊上門詢價，白襪賣不賣？ESPN一度報導白襪無意將塞爾送到同城球隊，已經告知小熊「不必再談」，但白襪總管罕恩（Rick Hahn）否認：「我在這幾年已經說過很多次了，我願意跟所有29支球隊討論交易。」
今年冬天自由市場上的先發強投不多，各隊將目光對準交易，本季投出17勝10敗、防禦率3.34的塞爾就是標的物之一。各隊向白襪熱絡洽詢交易塞爾，但ESPN在昨天報導競逐球隊可以排除小熊，因為白襪已經告知小熊，不打算跟小熊談任何與塞爾有關的交易。
這則報導在今天遭到罕恩反駁，「為了解除所有可能交易夥伴對我們的誤解，我希望再次澄清，我們的首要目標是讓球隊變得更好，所以我們會與所有球隊討論所有可能的交易。」
罕恩表示，如果白襪與小熊進行交易，外界當然會有高度關注，「但排斥任何可能的交易對象，對我們一點意義都沒有。」他指出，白襪曾經做過同區交易，既然都不排斥與一年要交手19次的對手交易，更不可能將小熊拒於談判門外。
在罕恩發言澄清之前，小熊總管霍耶爾（Jed Hoyer）已先一步發表意見，他坦言：「相較與其他球隊交易，我相信小熊與白襪兩隊對於與彼此的交易，確實會有些不同想法。」
霍耶爾提到，兩支球團高層的關係良好，也常討論事情，但他也認為兩隊交易的可能性不大，而且歷來同城球隊的交易案例也不多，包括紐約的洋基與大都會、灣區的巨人和運動家都是一樣的情況。
